SPARK Responds to COVID-19

Dr. Wendy Chung

Date Revised: July 15, 2020

The COVID-19 crisis has been devastating to many families and communities. We are all adjusting to a new normal. Our routines have changed, and our children are missing their therapists, teachers, friends and family. While the epidemic may be slowing in many parts of the country, it is spreading rapidly in other parts of the country.  Thankfully children have been resilient and have largely been spared from severe infections.  However, older members of our community have not been so lucky.  There is still a lot to learn about who is likely to have severe manifestations with infection, who has a harder time recovering from infection, and what treatments work.

Thanks to those of you who answered our prior surveys.  We have learned a lot about how COVID-19 has affected our community. Those results are on our website.

I now invite you to complete an important new survey looking at your experience with the virus. It should only take a few minutes and will help us understand how the illness affects people differently. Even if you have not been sick, your input is important for comparison.

Be well, wear a mask, wash your hands, stay 6 feet apart, and pitch in for SPARK and your community.

Wendy K. Chung, M.D., Ph.D.
Principal Investigator, SPARK
